JP Ironworks, LLC, in partnership with MarQ Steel Services, seeks a Bookkeeper to manage our financial operations for both fabrication and erection projects ranging from custom ornamental metalwork to large-scale structural steel installations.
Core Responsibilities:
1) COLLECTIONS
2) INVOICING CUSTOMERS
3) PAYING VENDORS AND SUBCONTRACTORS
Financial Transaction Management:
Record and categorize all financial transactions, including expenses, invoices, receipts, and payments
Oversee all financial transactions, such as credit card and bank reconciliations, and manage the accounts payables and accounts receivables process
Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for multiple construction projects
Process vendor payments for steel, aluminum, stainless steel materials, and subcontractors
Issue and record invoices accurately, ensuring proper categorization and prompt client delivery
Construction-Specific Accounting:
Track and reconcile project-related expenses, including materials, labor, equipment, and overhead costs with project budgets
Work with project managers and provide detailed financial reporting to ensure costs, timeline, and budget of construction projects are accurately forecasted
Manage job costing for fabrication and installation projects
Process AIA billing and progress payments through construction portals like Procore
Track equipment costs, labor allocation, and material usage across multiple job sites
Payroll & HR Support:
Prepare and process payroll for construction staff, including field crews and fabrication shop personnel
Handle union payroll requirements and prevailing wage calculations when applicable
Manage benefits administration and workers' compensation reporting
Track certified payroll requirements for government contracts
Administrative & Reporting:
Monitor and follow up on outstanding invoices to ensure prompt payment
Prepare monthly financial statements and job cost reports
Reconcile bank and credit card statements
Support year-end audit preparation and tax document organization
Maintain organized filing systems for contracts, change orders, and project documentation
Required Qualifications:
Experience: 3-5 years of bookkeeping experience in construction industry preferred
Software Proficiency: Expert-level skill in QuickBooks (Online and Desktop required)
Construction Knowledge: Strong background in construction bookkeeping with job costing
Technical Skills: Proficient with Microsoft Office, Excel, and accounting software
Industry Understanding: Familiarity with construction accounting concepts, tax strategies, and best practices
High school diploma required; Associate's degree in Accounting preferred
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with construction portals (Procore, Sage, etc.)
Knowledge of AIA billing procedures and progress payment processes
Understanding of union payroll and prevailing wage requirements
Experience with steel fabrication or manufacturing environments
Familiarity with construction contract documents

Understanding of construction project lifecycles and cash flow management

Compensation & Benefits:
Salary Range: $45,000 - $55,000 annually (based on experience)
Hourly Equivalent: $22-$26 per hour
