Project Engineer / Assistant Project Manager

JP Ironworks, LLC, in partnership with MarQ Steel Services for installation, seeks a Project Engineer/Assistant Project Manager to support our project management team in both fabrication and erection operations.


Key Responsibilities:

Project Support & Coordination:

  • Assist project managers with field measuring and job site meetings

  • Review and submit approved shop drawings to shop personnel for fabrication

  • Support project managers in coordinating with detailers to monitor drawing progress

  • Assist with gathering project requirements from architects and engineers

  • Help coordinate with other trades, suppliers, and sub-contractors

  • Document control for project management as well as the estimating departments 

Technical & Administrative Tasks:

  • Read and understand design drawings and shop fabrication drawings

  • Develop RFI's, work plans and submittals for projects

  • Track and report quantities of work performed

  • Material procurement, pricing, scheduling and delivery coordination (Pre and Post Fabrication) 

  • Support change order processing and documentation

  • Help maintain project documentation and close-out processes

Field & Client Support:

  • Conduct job site visits and field measurements

  • Communicate with Project Owner/Designer/Architect/Engineering regarding project schedule, issues and activities

  • Assist with job site problem resolution under senior management guidance

  • Support client relationship development activities

  • Travel to job sites within our service region (primarily day trips)

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or related field preferred though not required

  • Experience: Entry level considered with relevant education OR 1-3 years experience in steel fabrication, construction, or related field / GC experience

  • Ability to read and understand design drawings and shop fabrication drawings

  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation

  • Strong organizational and communication skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

  • Experience with Bluebeam, project management software preferred but not required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of steel, aluminum, and stainless steel fabrication processes

  • Familiarity with AWS, SPPC, NOMMA, UBC and AISC standards

  • Experience with construction or manufacturing environments

  • Understanding of safety protocols and regulations
